HUNTSVILLE LAKEHOUSE 

From the early stages of the project, Studio P collaborated with the architect to develop a thoughtful layout tailored to how our clients wanted to live, gather, and retreat. From the moment of arrival, dramatic ceiling heights, exposed beams, warm wood finishes, and expansive glazing establish a strong connection to the surrounding lake and forest. The kitchen, dining, living, and bar areas flow together for easy gathering, while more intimate spaces, like the primary bedroom, offer moments of retreat.

Inspired by the natural setting, we sourced a material palette layered with warm woods and earthy tones. The hickory flooring was selected early in the design process for its warmth, movement, and versatility. White oak, walnut, tongue-and-groove ceilings, and exposed beams build upon that foundation, creating continuity throughout the home while reinforcing its connection to nature. These layered wood tones bring richness and depth without overwhelming the spaces, creating warmth through thoughtful layering and restraint rather than excess.

For the kitchen, we intentionally moved away from conventional upper cabinetry. Highly functional base storage, integrated solutions, an appliance garage, and carefully edited display elements create a space that feels both practical and visually calm. Floating shelves and a single display cabinet provide opportunities for personality without disrupting the overall sense of clarity.

The result is a home that feels effortless yet highly considered, drawing people in without demanding attention. Clean, intentional, and cohesive in its material language, the retreat reflects Studio P’s belief that thoughtful interiors can foster a sense of calm and well-being—supporting how we live, gather, rest, and recharge.
